A woman who lost her husband, overwhelmed with financial burden, came to Elisha requesting help. Creditors were knocking on her door, threatening to take away her sons as slaves. She was desperate for answers. Crying out for help. Unable to pay. Elisha compassionately listened to her plea and asked her how he could help. But, before letting her answer he followed up his question with another. “Tell me, what do you have?” He asked. “In the house?” 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶?
It is tempting to gaze simply on our needs and circumstances, highlighting the deficiencies and shortcomings. The reality of everything working against us while easily dismissing the blessings that remain. But, Elisha in this next moment did something profound, something that can possibly change the way we look at our circumstances, 𝘪𝘧 𝘸𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘵. I don't want you to miss this. The story continues with her response. “Nothing at all, except a jar of olive oil.” You see, the man of God redirected the woman to what she already had, not what she lacked. To her it was “nothing at all” , to her it was “nothing at all” but, to him it was the answer and this answer is all that she needed.
What do you have in the house? In 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 house? 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩?
Sometimes the urgency to figure out what we need to do in circumstances bypasses what God has already given us. Running around impatiently to see a move from God, rather than realizing that God is patiently waiting for us to move alongside 𝐇𝐈𝐌. He is waiting for us to move while utilizing the tools and gifts that are stored right inside of us. Right inside of you. ═══════════════════════════════════ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐣𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞?
